Foothills Middle School is proof that Wenatchee supports education and believes in the future. Designed by the community, approved by the voters, and opened in August, 1993, FHMS stands as a testament to community commitment and will be a springboard to success for Wenatchee students.
Among those who played key roles in seeing the dream of this school come true, are past and present school board members who enacted the public's wish for quality education, laying the groundwork by purchasing land, supporting bond issues and building the school. Citizens' Facilities Committees evaluated the needs of children and researched the best and most cost-effective ways to meet those needs throwing their support behind the concept of Foothils. Past and present administrators managed the building project. The Citizens' Bond Committee rallied support, and Wenatchee voters cast their votes in favor of quality education. We all have a building, park, and programs that will inspire many generations and be a center of community activity. Foothills Planning Team spent 2 year's worth of long hours designing the school and its programs, building excitement and anticipation for what is one of the finest middle schools in the state of Washington. Architects, builders and contractors took pride in this unique school and ensured its quality from foundation to rooftop. Parents have advised and supported staff administration as the building transformed from a vision to reality. They planned today's ceremony and have lent hearts and hands to this celebration. Students are proud of their school, excited about learning here and happy to have you as guests. |
