Oct. 16 Fall Concert Info

October 16th is right around the corner, and some information will assist in preparing for this inaugural concert event. First of all, the concert will start at 7:00PM, but the students should probably be there around 6:00PM for setup and warmup. Parents are encouraged to help supervise the setup and warmup process.

The 7th Grade Band, 8th Grade Band and Jazz Ensemble will be performing along with our school's orchestra, choir, and mariachi groups. Please come out and show your support for our school!

Nov. 11 Veteran's Day Parade Info

Ok, I just got the informal invitation last week concerning the parade. More will come as information is provided.

However, let me say this much. The parade, though landing on a Saturday this year, is required for your student to attend. The dress will be Patriotic colors/themes, and any person choosing to dress in a derrogatory or inappropriate fashion will be discipline by Foothills through Make Your Day. If you have any questions on dress, please feel free to email Mr. Sandberg.

Attire & Etiquette

Rehearsal
As stated in the syllabus, students are expected to be in their seat with instrument (including reeds), music and pencil one minute after the bell rings. Students are also expected to sit attentively during rehearsal and not interfere with the class by talking or playing instrument unless recognized by the instructor. Causing interruptions has a negative impact on the Band as a whole, the student’s grade and the student’s Make Your Day points. The Band never reaches it’s full potential when interruptions occur.

Concert
Students should arrive for concerts when assigned. Concerts are a required part of this class. The only students who are allowed in the gym prior to the concert are students who are helping with set up-otherwise students should not be in the gym until they are taken in by a parent or Mr. Sandberg. Please be on time and attentive for your warm-up.

Attire - NEW!!!
Formerly, the students wore a semi-tux getup for concerts, and FMS Band T-shirts and jeans for parades. However, the Mr. Sandbergs are putting together a new uniform that consists of an FMS-logo'd polo shirt (which the student must buy), and a pair of white jeans and white shoes (which the student provides). The students and I are working together to design a shirt to submit to the school administration, and the rest will come as things develop a little more. We'll keep you posted as to what comes up!
