About Us @yourlibrary

No "Shhhhhhh" Allowed! The lights will be on and the music playing continuously from 7:40 AM to 3:00 PM daily. The Media Center includes the Library and two computer labs known as The LibLab and Lab 108. Ms. Mowat, the Teacher-Librarian, appreciates the help of her assistants, Mrs. St. John, Mrs. Gonzalez, 8th Grade Library Aides and sometimes McDuff, her West Highland White Terrier

Visiting the Library: Students may come to the Library and the labs with their classroom teacher or on their own with a Library Pass. Students should set their Library Pass atop the Circulation Counter. Passes will be stamped and should be picked up before returning to class. The library and lab schedules may be found on-line.

Library Staff: Ms. Mowat is a National Board certified Teacher-Librarian. As a member of the FMS Planning Team for the building and program design, she is very proud of our school. To meet the needs of students and staff, Ms. Mowat relies on the help of 8th grade Library Aides and an adult para educator. The staff invites your questions!

Reading Allowed: Foothills has over 12,000 books in its collection. "3 for 3" means students may check out 3 books for 3 weeks using their Student ID #. Foothills Falcons take pride in the care of their books returning them on time and caring for their condition. Overdue Notices will be sent out through core teachers to ensure that books are available for circulation. Ms. Mowat says, "Read, Return or Renew!"

LibLab and Lab 108: Foothills is very fortunate to have two complete computer classrooms equipped with 32 iMacs each as well as LCD projectors. Students must be supervised by their teacher in Lab 108, but can work independently in the LibLab. The computers are monitored remotely; a district filter ensures appropriate access; and, students must comply with the Wenatchee School District Acceptable Use Policy, which recognizes computer use is a privilege.

Lunch Bunch: The Library and LibLab are open during both lunches as an activity center when not reserved for class use. Students may use the computers for class related work or to search links off the Library Homepage. Book check out, games, study and conversation are welcome!

Special Events: Listen to the morning bulletin to hear special events announced. From Brown Bag Lunches to the Annual Book Fair, the library provides activities and enrichment for all! It is also the center for the Falcon Flyer Challenge Program, too.

Ms. Mowat welcomes book purchase requests via email.
