About Me

Teacher's Statement:

I feel very fortunate and privileged to be teaching Spanish and ESL at Foothills Middle School.  I am living my dream.  This is what I've always wanted to do.  I teach Spanish to a mostly Anglo population and I also teach English to a mostly Latino population.  In this assignment, I get to see and experience some of the beliefs and misconceptions each population has about the other.  I feel it has truly provided me with some insight on student attitudes toward each other.  It also has provided me with some interesting topics for teaching culture to each of these groups.

My goal is to provide a safe classroom where students learn communication and writing skills in English, and also learn some of the culture that goes with that language.  Hopefully this can be accomplished in a non-threatening, low-risk and fun-filled environment.

I encourage you to click on all the links in this site in order to familiarize yourself with its contents.

As usual, I am looking forward to a great year of teaching and learning.  Yes, I said......learning.  I am one of those people who believe that learning is a continuous process that simply has no end.

L earning the English Language

During this class you will have additional time to focus on learning English vocabulary, grammar and writing skills. This class supplements the English class you have in your core. It is very difficult to learn a new language in the 45 minutes we have in this class. It is expected that you continue to practice your English at school (during your other classes) and at home by reading or finsihing up your homework.

M aterials to Bring to Class

Pencils, Red Pen, Book to read, Point Sheet, and Planner.

*DO NOT BRING BACKPACKS OR NOTEBOOKS

H omework

All homework will be completed in class unless the teacher gives you specific instructions to take it home as homework. Homework is always due the next day unless teacher specifies a different due date.
