My name is McKenzie Ervin, and I am a student of Mrs. Mattson's. What you will be reading about today is what Mrs. Mattson's class has been doing from September ,2007through June of 2008. Actually ,these are just some highlights but enjoy!

6th Grade Camp: On Oct. 5th and 6th, Mrs. Mattson's class went to 6th grade camp up at Tall Timbers. We did fun activities such as rock climbing, archery, skits, and the zip line!

Spirit Days: At the end of every month, we always have a spirit day. In other words, we dress up for a certain theme. We have had celebrity day, crazy day, twin day, super hero day and flashback day. This is an excellent time to express your imagination and personality to others. It is the also the only time that teachers are not 100% proper all day long (they narrow it down to 99% of the time!).

Reading Groups: On January 17th, every student in the 6th grade was segregated into certain classes during 2nd period on Tuesday and Thursday. There, according to our lexile scores, we did different aclivities involving literiture with peers at our English standard.

Gold Rush News: We started working on a report as if we were reporters during the 1900 century on the Klondike Gold Rush.

Cold War Speaker: Jeff Krupka came into the class to give a speach on what it was like to fight in the Cold War. It was a very thrilling presentation, though I have to say that becouse Mr. Krupka is my dad!

Guest Author: Gary Soto came to visit the entirety of FMS on May 6th.

Causes of Conflict: We started working on the causes of conflict with Kennewick Man on May 5th.

Goverment: Mrs. Mattson's class  started working on how you run a democracy and how it works on May 26 by pretending that we were running for a branch in the government such as executive, judicial, and legislative and then, if we were elected, how you fullfill that position.

Project Alert: Mrs. Mattson's class went into Mrs. Noah's to learn about drug usage and how to say no.

These are the highlights from Mrs. Mattson's class. Tune in next time to hear more about a supurb teacher and her students!
