I strive to create a supportive learning environment.  My main objective is to establish an environment that promotes learning.  To learn, students need to feel safe and comfortable as well as energized and interested.  This requires respect, trust, hard work, and the celebration of academic success. 

I have high expectations for all of my students as well as for myself, and I expect all members of the learning community to work hard, to take risks, and to be positive members of their class, school and community. 

I believe in connecting with families as a means to help students achieve their educational goals.  Families are a vital part of the learning community.  Parents and guardians possess some of the most valuable and insightful information about their child.  A true two-way communication with families is essential and I view parents and guardians as my partners in the common mission of helping students succeed.  I welcome families into their child’s educational experience as volunteers, mentors, and other supporting roles.

I strive to develop strong networks with my colleagues and the community to ensure that we get to know the whole student.  Collaboration between students, teachers, administrators, and specialists is necessary within the learning community; combining our strengths ensures we are delivering the best possible education for students.
